140 kilos of cocaine brought into port in Tarragona on containers of bananas imported from Ecuador

Three suspects have been arrested in Valencia after the discovery by the Civil Guard of more than 140 kilos of cocaine brought into port in Tarragona on containers of bananas imported from Ecuador. It’s understood the cargo was brought in on a ship flying under the flag of Malta and was bound for a company in Valencia, leading detectives to the arrest in Valencia of a Spanish woman and two men from Colombia.The Civil Guard began their investigation in mid-October, saying in a statement released this weekend that documentation linking the suspects to the imported containers was found in searches of their homes. Officers also found more than 4,000 € in cash, precision weighing scales and small quantities of cocaine prepared ready for sale.All three have been remanded to prison after bail was refused by the judge.

Spanish police busted five people over heroin trafficking, including three Bulgarians.The confiscated 31 kilos of heroin are the largest quantity caught in the last years, the Spanish police informs.The drugs have been smuggled to Spain by the Bulgarians and have been destined to a Turkish national said to live in Valencia and have close ties to a Turkish mafia dealing with heroin trafficking.The heroin has been found hidden in an expensive automobile with Bulgarian license plates. The illegal drug was placed in one of the car's doors and underneath the back seat.
The other two alleged criminals were a Turkish national and a Spaniard.

13 people have been arrested by the Guardia Civil in Valencia after a violent theft

13 people have been arrested by the Guardia Civil in Valencia after a violent theft of drugs which they later sold on.A statement from the Civil Guard says that in some of the thefts the accused dressed up as Guardia Civil. The operation started on Feb 7 with the arrest of two women and four men, one of whom is implicated in an attempted murder in Benetússer, Valencia. Three kilos of marihuana has been recovered in the operation and one of the arrests was made inside the Albocàsser jail. It seems part of the stolen drugs were introduced into the prison by family members. Investigations in the case continue.

Valencia policeman is accused of robbing 20 kilos of cocaine recovered by the police so that he could keep both his wife and his lover in the habit of taking the drug.The prosecutor in the case has charged two policemen with the theft of the drug which formed part of a 500 kilo haul found by the authorities in Valencia port. The second policeman says that he was not involved and has been implicate by his colleague ‘in revenge for a personal problem’.The policeman who has confessed said that he was in a ‘delicate situation’ and needed money to keep his wife and girlfriend happy. That was why he said he went along with the idea of the fellow officer to take the 20 kilos of the drug which had been left on a temporary basis in a police van. He said he sold three kilos of the drug to a club doorman before he and the other policeman were arrested.Had the accused sold all the drug they could have obtained as much as 600,000 €. One in five Europeans who take cocaine on a regular basis lives in Spain.

Colombian drug trafficking gang arrested in Valencia

international drug trafficking gang has been broken up by the National Police in Valencia. Fifteen arrests were made in the second phase of ‘Operation Antilla’, nine of them in Valencia, and 235 kilos of cocaine has been recovered in Madrid and Valencia.Those arrested are believed to have brought the drugs into Spain from Colombia. Police have impounded computers, precision scales and other items in a total of five searches carried out since the first stage of the operation which took place in Madrid last March.The head of the gang is considered to be a 44 year old Colombian who was arrested in Madrid on April 29.In the latest arrests there were three Colombian women, four Colombian men and a Spaniard.All those arrested will appear in court shortly.

Police in Valencia have arrested six people in connection with a string of 13 break-ins on properties in the Marina Baja, all carried out while the owners were inside.
The six detainees, all Albanian-Kosovans, were arrested along with the owner of jewellers in Xirivella, who is accused of buying stolen goods from them.
The investigation into the gang’s activities started in October, 2007, when police detected a rise in the number of break-ins in the Marina Baja. After a lengthy surveillance operation police were able to piece together how the gang operated before closing in on them in a property in Valencia.
A search of the property uncovered a quantity of stolen jewellery.
All six detainees have been remanded in custody.
