Tangier Police seized a total of 272 kg of hashish that were concealed in a car registered in Spain.

The Customs and police services of the port of Tangier have seized, in four catches over the week-end, some 347 kg of cannabis products, and arrested 3 Moroccans and three foreigners as part of these operations, according to port authorities.
The most important catch was on Saturday when customs at the port of Tangier seized a total of 272 kg of hashish that were concealed in a car registered in Spain. The car's owner and the passenger, two Moroccan nationals, were arrested.
Later in the day, two other cars were intercepted with 18 kg of cannabis resin, locally known as chira, and 38 kg of hashish respectively. A female Moroccan expatriate and two Spaniards were arrested during these operations.
On Sunday night, customs and police services arrested a Portuguese national following the discovery of 19 kg of cannabis extract in his car’s truck.
Since the beginning of January, drug seizures at the port of Tangier are almost daily. The arrested traffickers of different nationalities are brought before court where they face sentences ranging from 5 to 10 years in prison and very heavy fines set according to the quantity of the drugs seized.

Malian national living in Germany was arrested

A Malian national living in Germany was arrested Thursday, , at the port of Tangier, in possession of 1.2 kg of cocaine that he was trying to smuggle to Morocco aboard a car registered in Germany. The banned substance was concealed in a bag placed in the trunk of the car.

Seized a total of 129kg of hashish destined for Algeciras, Spain

Customs authorities at Tangier port foiled three drug trafficking attempts on Sunday (March 9th) and Monday, MAP reported. Officials seized a total of 129kg of hashish destined for Algeciras, Spain. The largest single shipment of 66kg was found in the vehicle of a Moroccan citizen living in Belgium. Authorities seized some 35 tonnes of hashish in Tangier in 2007, an increase of 26% over 2006. In related news, Algerian press reported that on Monday police discovered more than 15 hectares cultivated with cannabis and opium in Ajdir, Adrar province. Security forces reportedly arrested eight suspects, in part for allegations that some of the farmers involved had benefited from state funds through the land-reclamation programme.

773kg of hashish hidden in a car bound for Spain

The customs officers of the port of Tangier, north, seized on Thursday some 773kg of hashish hidden in a car bound for Algesiras, southern Spain, MAP learnt here.
The driver and the passenger, aged 21 and 22, were arrested and the investigation so far showed that the drug, worth Euro 3Mn, was intended for the French market.Last week customs officers intercepted a truck bound for France with two metric tons of hashish onboard. Hashish catches in 2007 amounted to some 35 tons, while tens of drug smugglers from different nationalities were arrested during the year

Tangier,Customs services at the port of Tangiers arrested, on Tuesday, two Spaniards and a Moroccan with 72kg of hashish concealed onboard a car registered in Spain.

American national was arrested Tuesday by Moroccan Customs

An American national was arrested Tuesday by Moroccan cu stoms officers at the port of Tanger (north) with 26 kilogrammes of cannabis, th e government press agency, MAP, reported.
Erik B., 29, was arrested after customs officers discovered the drug concealed i n his car's chassis, MAP noted, adding that he was about to board a ferry bound for Algesiras, south of Spain.
Charged with "drug trafficking at international level," Eric will be prosecuted Wednesday and may face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if found guilty.

The search for Amy Fitzpatrick is broadened to Tangier

Dave Mahon, the partner of Amy’s mother, Audrey, has travelled to Tangiers with a friend to hand out posters and photos of the teenager. It’s reported that the family has no leads that Amy might be there, but it is easily accessible from the Costa del Sol, just a short ferry ride across the Strait of Gibraltar from Algeciras, across the border in Cádiz province.
